A Makeover with Varinka
December 29, 2016
She’s a new friend with a beautiful spirit and single mom. It’s great getting to know her. She doesn't wear lots of makeup every day but does on occasions. She's in her 40s and like me concerned about keeping her skin youthful and healthy. She rarely uses foundations because she feels they are too heavy and don't stay on her face. Our makeover focussed on a skin care routine, finding a light foundation and teaching her how to do a simple makeup looks and glam it up when she wants.
A treat for the skin. We started off with a facial from our Royalty Skin Care line treating for combination skin. She is dry in some areas and oily on others (Tzone), and tends to breakout on her chin and lower cheeks. Getting to know what your skin needs is key so you can use the right products to keep your skin in balance. This is what we used: Pore Purifying Cleanser, Detoxifying Mask, Rose Water Toning Spritz, Instant Lifting Serum, and Renewing Day Cream with SPF. She was very impressed with the instant results and how her skin firmed up right before her eyes with the Instant Lifting Serum. It's amazing and my daily staple! We finished up with our Touch Glorious Face Primer to prep the skin for makeup application—sealing in all the moisture while keeping her makeup last all day and more brilliant.
A foundation just for her and a fresh face. We tried out a few of our foundations and found that our Touch Mineral Cream Foundation in color Taffeta was her choice for her skin type and color. (Note: The Liquid Foundation was applied to the right side of her face. The left side used Cream Foundation, then Pressed Powder to finish. Both had great results and would work great with her skin type. She preferred the feel and finish of the Cream Foundation.) She learned the best ways to apply the foundation and used our Touch Mineral Skin Perfecting Concealer to highlight, cover blemishes and dark spots, and brighten her skin under her eyes to make them pop and look more fresh and awake. Next she learned how to contour to add more depth to her facial features with our Touch Mineral Powder Foundation in color Charmeuse and Beachfront Bronzer in color Malibu. We then created a healthy glow with our Moodstruck Minerals Pressed Blusher in color Stunning on her cheeks. Just above the cheek bone, we added a little highlight shimmer using Addiction Eye Shadow Palette 4 in color tender (light pearl neutral on left).
A day into evening eye look. Varinka has brown eyes like me. Brown eyes work great with any color shadow. We decided on a champagne and purple look using our Splurge Cream Shadow in color Elegant (sparkly champagne). We used that all over the lid to create our base and in the inter corner and lower inner lash line. That alone looked amazing and is a beautiful everyday day look on it's own. Then we used Addiction Eye Shadow Palette 5 in color Fearless (iridescent purple second to the right) into into the crease, outer corner and under the bottom outer lash line. The purple looks amazing with her eyes. We used our Moodstruck Precision Pencil Eyeliner in color Perfect (Black) on the upper water line to make her lashes look fuller. Then we used Eyeliner in color in color Polished (Silvery Ice Blue) on her lower water line to make her eyes look bigger and with a sparkle. And to finish off her eye look. Yes our amazing Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes+ Mascara. On her brows, we used our Moodstruck Precision Brow Liner in Dark to define their shape and filled in a little with Addiction Eye Shadow Palette 1 in color Chipper and Forthright (middle and secont from the right).
A bold lip. Varinka loves to wear a bold lip color sometimes so we had to use our Splash Liquid Lipstick in color Spontaneous (Dark Berry). To keep her lips super moist, after the Liquid Lipstick dried, we added Lip Bonbons Tinted Lip Balm in color Red Velvet Cake (Berry). Wow it looks amazing.
What do you think of this look? Doesn’t she look gorgeous?
